Will Abortion Pill Mifepristone Remain Legal?

This week at the Supreme Court justices heard arguments surrounding access to a widely used abortion pill, mifepristone, in the United States. This case is unusual, because although it appears likely that the justices will not restrict access to the pill, the ruling would probably not be because the majority felt the restrictions were unlawful. Instead, it seems likely that the justices will strike down the regulations because the group of anti-abortion doctors' case does not have standing. In order to bring a court case, the person or group must show that they have been directly injured, and the justices seemed skeptical that these doctors have been hurt by access to the abortion pill given that doctors with moral objections to abortions can refuse to give them. It is unclear exactly when the ruling will be given from the court regarding this case, but it will likely come by the end of June.
