Florida Man Aims to Ban those 13 and Under from Social Media

Everyone has probably seen the takeover of tweens and young teens on popular social media platforms like TikTok. Florida Governor Ron Desantis signed a bill on Monday, March 25th, aiming to change that. The bill would prevent people 13 years old and under from even being on social media, and 14 and 15 year olds would need parental permission before joining. Furthermore, accounts that are held by those younger than 14 would be deleted. Companies that do not follow these policies could be sued. The passage of this bill is part of a larger trend nationwide moving towards stricter regulations of kids on social media. The bill is not expected to go into effect until January 2025, and is very likely to face legal challenges.
